Dr. Edgar William Verralls
Edgar (Bill) was born in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in January 1933 where his father served as
an Inspector of Police. Bill's father, Edgar Victor, is
pictured on the main homepage while serving in the XI Hussars, he
is also listed as one of five Verralls who served in the Great War.
At 16 Bill entered the Merchant Navy as an apprentice deck
officer rising to the rank of Chief Officer/Staff Captain of the passenger liner Northern
Star.
In 1965, he left the merchant navy to enter Australian civil air traffic control where he
held various control positions for 20 years.
Bill retired in 1986. In 1988 he decided to expand his education obtaining a Bachelor of
Business degree awarded with distinction in 1991 and finally his Doctorate in 1996.
Bill is married to Coralie and is now living in Tasmania, Australia.
